8 weeks old!!!!! 2 months old!!!! (a little behind)

Wow, I am definitely a little behind, but a lot has been going on!  Unfortunately, Tyler lost her Great Grandpa early Saturday morning. :-(  My grandpa Kania passed away and things have just seemed to be a whirlwind.  Tyler, your Great Grandpa Kania loved seeing you when I would bring you over to their house.  I know he would have loved to watch you grow, but I am so thankful that he was able to meet you and visit with you several times.  He was a wonderful man who loved to tell jokes.  He was quite the character. He loved life and lived it to the fullest!  I have many wonderful memories of him to share with you some day!
Great Grandpa Kania and Tyler
On Friday, March 25th Tyler was 8 weeks old!  She is just gaining more and more of a personality each and every day.  I love seeing her smile!  It just melts my heart!  You were 2 months old on Monday, March 28th. You are still sleeping through the night!  Yea!!!  You sleep from about 10:30 until 7:00 each night.  You still eat every 3 hours, however the past few days you have wanted to eat every 2-2 1/2 hrs.  I am wondering if you're going through a growth spurt.  We went to the doctor yesterday for your 2 month check up and you are a growing girl!!!  You weigh 11 pounds 7 ounces and are 24 inches long!!!  At that rate you will be a tall girl!  I guess right in between mommy and daddy's height.  You are in the 75th percentile for weight and 98th percentile for height!!!  The doctor said to keep feeding you 4 1/2 to 5 ounces each feeding, and you have no problem doing that!  You love to eat!  You had your shots at your check up yesterday, you did not like them!  I held your hands and got you settled down right away though.  You were kind of fussy the rest of the day, but you still slept the entire night.  You like to be talked to and entertained.  You seem to know when no one is right there with you.  You love to be walked around and held.  Always wanting to be jiggled.  You know when you are sitting and not walking around.  You will lay on the floor if someone is talking to you, and will sit in your swing for short periods.  Today, you let me read you 2 books while you were laying on your rug in your room...you just smiled the whole time!  I hope you love reading for a long time!  Tomorrow is the first day of April, I am getting so sad that my time home with you is quickly coming to an end.  April is the month I go back to school. :-(  I am not looking forward to that day at all.  I would stay at home with you every single day if I could!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day and 7 weeks old!!!!

Wow, I am a little behind!  Things just get busy and I get behind on updating!  Tyler celebrated her first St. Patrick's Day on Thursday and she turned 7 weeks old on Friday!  She is growing and changing every single day!  She is really smiling these days and we just love every single minute of it!  She just takes in every single thing that you say to her and she just follows and studies you all the time!  Her daddy was singing her the ABCs and she just laughed and laughed!  I love hearing her coo and "talk"!  When I am away from her I miss her so much...even if I just run the to grocery store, I miss her to pieces!  I know it's good for us to go out and do things and have just Devin and I time, but I hate leaving her.  Last night, we went to dinner with my sister and her husband and then went and met some friends for about an hour after that and I could not wait to go pick her up! I don't know how I'm going to be able to go back to school.  I will be one big mess!  I think about her when I 'm not with her and feel like I'm missing so much of her life and that I'm going to miss the tiniest thing she does!  Friday evening, my mom took her for a few hours so I could go to the store and shower, etc.  Even Devin was like "when is Tyler going to be home?"  We couldn't wait for her to be back with us!  As you can see, we are in love with this sweet little girl!

On St. Patrick's Day, I took Tyler to go visit my mom at school and the teachers.  Everyone loved seeing her and couldn't believe how much she's grown!  Even the kids all loved seeing Miss Tyler!  They would pass us in the hall and say oh what a cute baby!  She wore her shamrock onesie and bow that Grandma Donna made for her.  Great Aunt Joyce came by to visit in the evening and Tyler loved the attention!

All smiles!!!

On Friday, Tyler was 7 weeks old!  We walked to the hospital to visit Great Grandma Suedmeyer in the morning.  Tyler did really well and let grandma hold her for a bit.  Tyler is definitely at least 10 pounds!  She just grows and grows every single day!  She is still eating about 4 1/2 ounces about every 3 hours.  So far, we are still sleeping through the night.  Usually Tyler will sleep from about 10 or 11 until 6 or 7 in the morning.  She may fuss through the night, but we just pat her and give her the pacifier and she usually goes back to sleep!  I'm so happy to have these nights!

Today, we are going to have a small gathering birthday celebration for my grandma Suedmeyer's 85th birthday at the hospital.  We are having cake and punch with some friends and family.  Her birthday is Wednesday, March 23rd so we plan to take her out to eat Wednesday evening with our family.  I feel so blessed to be able to celebrate another birthday with my grandma!

6 weeks old

Tyler, you were 6 weeks old on Friday, March 11.  I cannot believe it has been 6 weeks since I have had you.  I think I say that everyday that goes by.  I cannot believe that if I were only taking 6 weeks off of work, I would be back at school right now and not with you.  I feel so thankful for the extra time off with you.  I know that it is going to be a very sad day for me when I have to leave you!  I keep blocking it out of my mind.  What are you up to at 6 weeks?  You are much easier to calm these days.  However, I think I've got you spoiled, because you love to be up and walking around while being held.  You will sit for longer periods of time in your swing, mostly while sleeping though.  You still sleep a lot!  Sometimes I can't believe how much you sleep during the day, and get nervous because I worry you won't sleep at night.  You have been sleeping much better at night, however we have to usually rock you to sleep and hold you for a while before we can put you down.  I love snuggling with you and holding you and try to soak in every moment that I am holding you so snugly, because I know that day will be here way too soon that you will no longer want to be snuggled.  Your Daddy and I are a bit puzzled because we have found you rolled over from your stomach to your back 4 times!  We have never seen you do it, but when placed on your stomach, we'll come back and check on you and you'll be on your back!  You must get your arms under you and push over.  You also scoot from one end of your crib to the other when on your stomach...you are quite the wiggle worm!  At night we always have your sound machine on with the sound of waves.  You love your diaper changed and always smile and coo while we are changing you!  It is so sweet!  You also are liking a giraffe and elephant that play music.  You also really like your baths!  Daddy sings to you and splashes water on you and you just sit there so relaxed!  You are still eating about 4.5 ounces about every 3 hours.  Sometimes in the evening you are hungrier and only make it 2.5 hours.  I weighed you on the scale with me yesterday and you weighed 10 pounds!  You are a growing girl!  You still spit up sometimes when you eat, usually if you don't burp soon enough, but you're still gaining weight so I'm not too worried.

(you were not going to let me take out that pacifier!)

You had a busy weekend.  It was beautiful Friday and Saturday!  We are so ready for spring!  You got to meet Aunt Janice and Uncle Jeff for the first time!  On Saturday, Aunt Jessica, Uncle Michael and cousins Alex and Ethan were in Nashville, so we went to spend the day with them.  It was so pretty outside that we took a long family walk with them, along with Daddy, Gram, and Aunt Lindsay.  We saw several people along our walk and they all loved seeing you 3 cutie babies!  You slept the entire time, but Alex and Ethan smiled at everyone.  They eventually fell asleep too.  We wish they lived closer so we could do that more often!  On Saturday evening, we got together with Gram's side of the family (Suedmeyer) to take a family picture since everyone was home.  You did great!  We all went to Kretzer's to eat after and you saw more people!  Jesse was there, so he got to meet you for the first time!  Of course, everyone held you the whole time, which you loved!  You slept really well Sat. night.  You must have been worn out from such a busy day!  The time changed, but that didn't mess you up.  Daddy had to wake you up at 7:30 on Sunday morning to go to church.  You looked so cute in your zebra dress and feather hat!  At church you got to meet cousin Bella for the first time.  She thought you were pretty cute too!  We stopped by Great Grandma and Grandpa Kania's before going to lunch so they could see you with Alex and Ethan.  For lunch we went to the community center to eat chicken and dumplings with your cousins and Gram and Grandpa.  Everyone loved seeing you out.  Some people are starting to say you look like me, but I still see your daddy in you.  For dinner, we went to Great Grandma and Grandpa Kryger's to eat since Aunt Janice was out.  (I told you it was a busy weekend!)  Yesterday and today, we have been pretty lazy and have stayed in our pjs all day both days!  It has been cold, rainy, and cloudy outside.  Starting tomorrow it is supposed to warm up, so we'll get some energy and hopefully go for some walks to enjoy the weather!  You have wanted to be held pretty much all day today, which of course I then do!  We love you so much Tyler Marie!  We love watching you grow and change everyday!  Every milestone brings us joy!

Spoiled

I'm feeling spoiled after having some really great nights with Tyler sleeping.  Last night wasn't bad at all, but it felt like it since we've had such a few really long spans of sleeping.  Tyler wanted to eat at midnight, which had not been the case the past week.  I fed her and finally was to bed about 1.  She was ready to eat again at 5 this morning.  Now I know this is pretty good, but this is where I feel spoiled because it was more often through the night to morning than it had been.  I kind of thought last night would be worse though because she slept so much yesterday...I can't believe she slept that much because she slept so well <Mon. night.  Each day is different.  We had visitors today!  Tyler got to meet my cousin Beth and her husband Takashi.  They are here visiting from Massachusetts.  I hadn't seen them since Christmas so it was so good to have them here!  My Aunt Marilyn came also with her grandkids Colt and Jaxon.  Jaxon is about a month older than Tyler.  Colt kept saying so many babies.  He wanted to know where Alex and Ethan were too.  Tyler smiled for Beth too!  I love that she'll smile and coo more when you talk to her!  Beth brought her the sweetest little sweater and ruffle socks!  Not much else planned for today.  I'm wanting to get some Easter things ordered for Tyler...Pottery barn has an Easter basket I plan to order for her.  I want her to have it for each Easter to come.  I still have the same basket from when I was little.  I love all things monogrammed and pottery barn has so much that you can personalize...their baskets too!

Sleepless Night

Well, unfortunately Tyler was back to her old ways and was a night owl last night!  She just would not sleep or settle down.  I had a feeling that is how it would be because she slept almost all of yesterday during the day.  It is so hard to keep a 5 week old baby awake.  She finally slept in her swing from about 1:30-3:30.  I rocked her until about 4 and she slept in her crib until about 7 this morning.  Now she has slept almost all morning again!  I am going to try really hard to keep her awake this afternoon, even if I have to deal with her being fussy!  We are going to visit Great Grandma and Grandpa Kania for lunch so maybe that will help.  Hopefully we can run a few errands too...we'll see how that goes!

5 Weeks Old!!!

Tyler was 5 weeks old yesterday! (Friday, March 4, 2011)  Not sure how that's possible?  I know people say it all the time, but where has the time gone?  Yet, Donna just said to us the other night that sometimes doesn't it feel like she's been here forever at the same time?  Yes, it does!  She is changing everyday!  I miss how tiny she was that first week we had her home, but  I am loving how the past few nights have been!  I hope this continues now that she is past the one month mark!  She has pretty well slept a good 5-6 hours straight through the night for the past week!  Fingers crossed....this will continue!  She may fuss a bit, but we just go in and pat her and give her the pacifier and she usually goes back to sleep.  Last night she ate around 9:30 and woke up around 2.  I really was hoping we'd make it longer than that, but she was a hungry girl, so she ate and slept until 6:45 this morning!

We took advantage of the last few days that were nice and warm.  Devin started surgery on Thursday (and will continue every Tuesday and Thursday from now on, seeing patients MWF...so happy for him I think he is really enjoying seeing his own patients and of course his favorite, surgery)  He surprised us on Wednesday afternoon and was home early, so we all 3 got to go for a walk together!  Yesterday, it was supposed to rain, so Tyler and I just walked around the block to get some fresh air before the rain came.  Today (Saturday) it is cold and cloudy outside.  Devin left at 5 this morning to go pheasant hunting up north! Brrr...he said it was snowing some there...yuck!  Tyler and I were excited because some of my teacher friends came to visit us for lunch!  It was so good seeing them!  I'm glad they finally got to meet Tyler, now they're begging me to bring her to school!  We have a trip planned in a few weeks!  They brought Tyler some adorable summer dresses (zebra print and ruffles...just what her mom loves!)  Amy made us some delicious pecan sticky buns...I will be getting the recipe from her...they were so good!  Tyler and I are just relaxing the rest of today until Daddy gets home. We had lots of visitors today, which was great!  Gram, Aunt Lindsay, Kerry, Elyse, Grandma Donna, Uncle Braedon, and Martha all came to see you this afternoon and evening! We are ready for some warm spring weather anytime now!  We are not a fan of these cold, dreary days anymore!  Here are a few pics of Tyler from the past couple days.  Wait till you see her 5 week old picture...she did not want it taken and I couldn't get anymore because she made a mess of her outfit before I could try...ha!

Tyler fell asleep in her little ball position...face first!  It was so sweet!

Snuggled in my swing!

Enjoying the nice weather on a walk! (not sure yet how to rotate my picture...anyone know?)

Blogging for memories of our family and our baby girl Tyler Marie

I have started this blog to help remember special memories of our family.  Since having Tyler so many things happen on a day to day basis, so I hope this will be a special place to log those memories and to look back on them.
Tyler was born on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 4:27 A.M. at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in Des Peres, MO.  She was 7 pounds 13 ounces and 21 inches.  She was perfect and healthy!  I went to school on January 27 (Thursday) and felt some cramping as the day went on, but didn't think much.  During my lunch, I called Devin and told him I thought I had more cramping than normal, but didn't feel sick so I didn't think much because everyone told me I would feel sick.  On my drive home from school, the cramping was getting stronger, but still didn't think much, I just thought maybe it was a start to her coming in the next few days.  When I got home, Devin and I were sitting at the computer discussing where we wanted to have her newborn pics taken once she arrived.  As we were sitting there, I kept saying the cramping was getting stronger.  I called Amber and my mom asking what labor felt like and if this could be it.  They said they never had cramps but everyone is different.  Devin and I decided to go for a walk around the block.  During our walk, cramps continued to the point where I would have to stop walking.  Once we got back home, we decided not to cook and just put a pizza in.  Kerry called to chat and while I was on the phone with her, I was out of breath and in pain.  I was doubling over in pain by now, but it would come and go.  Once gone, I felt fine, so I was like this can't be it.  We ate pizza, but I had a hard time getting it down because of the pain, but forced myself because I knew once I got to the hospital, there would be no eating.  Devin finally convinced me to call the exchange at the hospital to see what they thought about my pain.  When I called I was so happy to find out that Dr. Rempe (my doctor) was taking the calls that night!  Yea!!!  I wanted her to deliver our baby so badly!  While waiting for her to call me back, Devin needed to scan some documents for his paper work for the clinic.  We got all of our bags in the car just in case and headed to his parents' house to scan the papers.  While there, I sat on the steps in pain.  Lindsay called me to tell me about her birthday that day and finally stopped and was like are you ok?  I was breathing really hard I think, I hadn't told her that I thought I might be in labor.  She was going crazy when I finally told her!  Dr. Rempe called me back and said I sounded like I was in pain and to head to the hospital.  Devin and I left straight from his parents, little did we know the next time we came back to our house it would be 3 of us, not just the 2 of us.  On the way to the hospital, I was having contractions every 3-4 minutes and was in a lot of pain.  We ran by the post office in Okawville to mail some papers for Devin and stopped in Fairview to get a water because I was so thirsty.  Devin said every time I had a contraction he sped up a lil faster ha!  Once at the hospital we checked in, and it seemed like I was feeling better and not as much pain.  I was like Ugh!  If this was false, I was going to be so embarrassed!   However, we had only told our parents and no one else because we didn't know if it was the real thing.  They took me to a room to check me and the pain increased again.  However, I was only dilated to a 2.  They called Dr. Rempe and decided I should walk the halls for an hour!  What!?!  I was in so much pain while walking...doubling over and wanting to fall to my knees.  Devin was like "Dana get up, you can't lay down" ha!  We were getting some stares, which we were on the neonatal floor so not sure why.  I was so hot, so I decided I wanted to take off my shoes and socks, should've worn flip flops.  Devin told me that was weird, but I told him I didn't care with as much pain as I was in and how hot I was.  He rolled up my pants like capris too! HA!  I finally decided to call my principal around 10:00 even though I didn't know for sure if I was staying, but since it was so late already, so he called my sub for me.  Finally the nurse came and got me after about 45 minutes, because one of the other nurses told her "that girl is in pain, you can't leave her out there any longer!"  They didn't even check me again, just said they were admitting me and were going to call anesthesia for the epidural.  When getting the epidural, she had to do it twice and during the second time, I was having a contraction!  I just kept telling myself to stay still.  It hurt, but not as bad as my contractions.  My contractions were cramps and burning on the tops of my legs!  Like I had just run for days!  I felt no pain after the epidural.  The nurse kept asking me if I could feel my contractions, and I couldn't!  I could feel pressure, which was good, because then I would know when I had to push.  We called our family to tell them we were staying.  My mom, Lindsay, Donna, and Braedon all came up.  They got to talk to us, but we told them to go get some rest.  Lindsay still had to go to school in the morning.  I was moving along quickly.  I was at a 7 after the epidural, but had to have 2 rounds of antibiotics before I could deliver so I had to wait to start pushing.  At 2:30 A.M. I was at a 9, but couldn't push because antibiotics weren't through yet.  Finally, I was able to start the process.  It was so relaxed.  A nurse was there with me and Devin.  We pushed with just us and then she went to call Dr. Rempe.  Once Dr. Rempe was there, I only pushed 30 minutes and Tyler was here!  I cried when I heard her cry!  It was the best thing in the world!  When they handed her to me I immediately told Devin she looked just like him!  Everyone else soon agreed!  I finally was holding my perfect baby girl!

Our family was texting everyone and sending pics, all the responses were that she looked like Devin.  I was so tired, but filled with so much joy!  I was so thankful for such a healthy baby!  Aunt Jessica and Uncle Michael soon arrived after taking the boys to the sitter.  Later that day, Lindsay came back to the hospital after school and Grandpa Haertling and Grandpa Kania also came.  Other visitors that came to the hospital were Great Aunt Joyce and Uncle Kurt, Riley, and Sam.  Devin's classmates Ellen and Allison.  Our friends Kerry and Josh, and Matt and Kristen.  It was also so nice, the nurse who was with me when I arrived at the hospital came to see me!  She was so sweet!

The first night, we had the nurse take Tyler to the nursery during the night and they brought her back to me when she needed to eat.  On Saturday night, we decided to keep her in our room.  Oh my!  She did not want to sleep on her own.  Devin and I took turns holding her, not much sleep for us!  We even broke down and gave her a pacifier!  On Sunday, we were so ready to go home!  We finally were discharged around noon.  Tyler slept the whole way home...I kept checking to make sure she was breathing because she didn't make a peep!  Lindsay and my mom were at our house to video us coming home and they had cleaned for me too!  Devin's grandparents came to visit on Sunday also.

Tyler pretty much slept and ate.  She was eating every 2-3 hours.  Devin was going to be home with us this whole week before starting work!  I was so happy!  On Monday, I went to get my hair colored for the first time since before I was pregnant, so Devin brought Tyler up to Mandi's so they could see her.  Her first trip to the hair salon!  We were supposed to be getting a major ice storm the next few days, so we geared up to stay at home.  We were able to make it to Tyler's first pediatrician appointment before the storm on Tuesday morning.  She weighed 7 lbs 10 oz. and everything looked great!  Devin's mom was so worried we would lose power, so she bought us a generator.  Sure enough, the ice came and we did lose power for 14 hours!  We had the furnace, the fridge, the T.V. and the front living room lights hooked up to the generator.  It was really creepy, you could hear limbs and trees falling all around outside.  Many people around town had damage.  We took a drive around town...Lindsay and Devin made me..I kept telling Tyler we were forced into it..ha!  It looked like a war zone!  LIndsay and my mom were off school most of the week, so they were able to be here quite a bit.  It was so nice to have Lindsay make my bed everyday and clean up around the house.  We were so blessed to have our families making us meals, that we didn't cook for the first two weeks!

Quite an eventful week for a newborn baby!

Our nights were going ok, she was eating every 2-3 hours still. On nights when I got no sleep, Devin would call his mom to come over in the morning to stay with Tyler so I could sleep.  It was so nice!

On Friday, Devin and I took Tyler on her first shopping trip.  We needed to go to St. Louis to buy me a pump.  We went to Baby Gap and to Target and then came home.  Tyler did really well!

Devin went to work on Monday and I was so sad!  My mom took off with me that day, which was so nice!  Our first week alone went pretty well.  Tyler however did not want to sleep during the night.  She seems to be up from about 8-midnight.  The doctor said she is the boss and we are on her schedule.  We had some rough screaming nights.  A lot of rocking and walking around the house, standing in front of the vent fan on the microwave and even taking a drive during the night!

Tyler's 2 week appointment went good, my mom went with me.  She weighed 9 lbs!  She loves to eat and lets you know she's hungry too!  We were scheduled to come back in 2 weeks for her one month visit.

We have been able to go on a few walks with Tyler here and there when a warm day sneaks in.  She really seems to like to go on walks...which is great because I plan to do lots of walking with her!

On February 19, Tyler attended her first wedding.  I was a bridesmaid in my friend Steph's wedding.  Tyler loved it!  She didn't make a peep the whole ceremony and loved the music at the reception.  Grandma and Grandpa Haertling took her home around 7:30 to babysit for the rest of the night.  Devin talked me into letting them keep her overnight, I cried and cried!  I did not want to leave her, but he told me I needed sleep.

On February 20, Tyler was baptized.  It was a beautiful service!  The choir sang some beautiful songs!  Tyler cried when she had the water poured on her, but settled down.  She just wanted to let everyone know she was there.  After the service we had a nice lunch at Devin's parents house with our families.  What a blessing this little girl is!

This past week was quite eventful for myself.  I broke out into a rash and developed mastitis.  I got a steroid shot, but rash did not go away.  I went on a steroid pack, but rash still spreading.  Finally on Monday, I called my doctor and went in to see her.  My mom took off and went with me.  Tyler was such a trooper that day!  They got me in to see a dermatologist and she thought I was having an allergic reaction to penicillin.  She took a biopsy to send off to see for sure and prescribed me a different steroid and antibiotic.  My rash and mastitis are getting better, however I still itch, so hopefully it goes away soon!  I go back to see both doctors in 10 days.

Tyler experienced her 2nd storm Sunday night.  The tornado sirens went off around 11:30 so Devin and I headed down to the basement for about an hour until it passed.  Some areas around us had damage and lost power, but thankfully we did not!

Yesterday, Tuesday, March 1 Tyler had her 3rd trip to the pediatrician.  Grandma Donna went with us.  It's nice to have an extra set of hand and ears at the doctor.  Tyler weighs 9lbs 10 oz. and is 22 in long.  She is a growing girl and really starting to fill out!  She doesn't even look the same, Ican't believe how fast time has gone and how quickly she has grown and changed.  The doctor wants us to try to get her to sleep through the night.  On Monday night, she ate around 11:30 and was awake until about 1:30.  I rocked her in the recliner until about 4 A.M. but she still had not woken to eat.  I put her down and she slept until around 6!  Last night she went down around 10.  She fussed around 2, but we just put the pacifier back in and she went back to sleep.  She didn't wake up to eat until 6:45!  Let's hope this continues!  She is now eating about 3-4 ounces at each feeding.  She is really starting to like the swing that Aunt Jessica is letting us borrow from the boys.  Our girl loves to be cuddled and held.  My mom said I wished this upon myself because I wanted a cuddly baby.  that she is!  In the middle of the night when I'm rocking her, I keep telling myself that someday she won't want me to hold her so I'm going to soak it all in now!  Even though I'm like a zombie! ha!

Today, Tyler and I are just relaxing!  She has been really good so far this morning!  We always look forward to the time when Daddy gets home!  Hopefully it gets warm enough today that we can take a walk to the post office!  Exciting I know!  I am loving being home with her each and every day!  I know going back to work is not going to be easy!
